Homes, simply defined, are the places we live. Homes can be long term residences, or be very much temporary in nature. They vary in size, price, style, and so much more. Homes can be in tract neighborhoods, or custom builds. Throughout the United States you can find homes built around the time of our founding as well as brand new builds.
 
The type of homes people purchase largely depends on their unique lifestyle. If simplicity is key, homes that are smaller without yards might be preferred. If you have a pet, you will need a home that is pet friendly. If you have plans of a property with a swing set, then you’ll need an adequate sized yard. If skiing daily is your cup of team, the purchasing a home near a ski resort would be critical.
 
Location largely drives the home people live in. First of all, living near your job is usually important if you have to be in an office or physical location. Also, if you are looking for a home near water, you have a full array of beach and lake homes throughout the world. Often time location is selected due to the weather. Some of us may want homes in exceptionally warm climates while others of us may care about experiencing all four seasons. Some of us love trees so we would select homes in a forest or lush area, others love homes with views. The location of your home will dictate so much. Some homes are in vibrant economic areas with large numbers of employment opportunities while others may be in the peace and quiet of a more remote area. In any event, location definitely determines a lot about what type of homes people choose to live in.
 
The types of homes people live in are also defined by their particular style. Contemporary, Cape Cod, country French, Colonial, Victorian, Craftsman, cottage, Mediterranean, Tudor, ranch, and country French are just a few styles of homes you can choose from. Many people simple think of homes in terms of being rustic, modern, or traditional. Regardless of what the label is, homes appeal to us largely because, whether we know it or not, there are styles of homes that speak to us.

In rural areas larger homes are more common, with the exception of very expensive and exclusive areas. In dense packed cities homes are in many cases expensive yet extremely small. This is usually because of the demand due to the close proximity of jobs and entertainment options. Homes may be larger in  actual size if multi-story even if they sit on smaller lots.

Similar trends can be seen in many other parts of the world where real estate has had to keep up with an increasing populous.
 
There are countless layouts and features found in all types of homes. The layout of a home is typically referred to as the floor plan. If you can imagine it, someone has built it as a home’s floor plan. Common rooms we find are living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, great rooms, play rooms, bonus rooms, and many more. Some bedrooms have attached bathrooms while others don’t. Virtually all rooms considered bedrooms with have closets, which is pretty much standard in every home you may find. Along with bedrooms, there is a kitchen in basically all homes. The size and features found in a kitchen are very different from house to house. Typically, you’ll see home kitchens have ovens, refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, sinks, and room for storing pots, pans, and food. Different home fixtures, windows, doors, paint, and ceilings also vary dramatically from house to house. When people consider buying a house, the location along with the features and layouts of a home are all critical in the decision making process.
 
Homes may be in communities or be found completely on their own. Some places feature tract homes while others will be a conglomeration of custom homes. Tract homes typically have a handful of floor plans and customs tend to be pretty much unique. Tract homes are definitely a newer approach when considering the long history of home building in the United States. Along with the size of a particular home, the location of a property, and the features the home possesses, the location can greatly impact the value of a home. the newest homes in safer communities are typically more highly sought after than those in less safe locales. Neighborhoods often times have amenities we love. Community pools, parks, tennis courts, clubhouses, and many others can really impact the quality of life the place you call home provides. Each individual home buyer assesses the importance of the community. For some home buyers, a home off on its own is the better choice than those within communities.
